Sagar Parikh, I'm the international news editor at IndianAutosBlog.com. I love everything that has a steering wheel!
The 2019 BMW 3 Series has reached India for testing, spy shots posted by Team-BHP forum member sajo have revealed. The test mule was undergoing emission testing by ARAI.
The BMW 3 Series will up its sporting character with more dynamic proportions and a sharper design moving to its seventh generation. A close look at camouflaged prototypes has made it clear that the new look is evolutionary at best, and typically so.
Slender twin headlights angrier than ever before, conjoined kidney grille with a single-piece surround encompassing its various elements, a redefined Hofmeister kink and sleeker, L-shaped tail lights are the defining design features of the 2019 BMW 3 Series. Reports say that the car is 60 mm longer (~4,703 mm), of which about 20 mm is taken up by the longer wheelbase (2,830 mm).
Underpinning the new generation BMW 3 Series is the familiar CLAR rear-wheel-drive platform that brings improved structural rigidity. The all-new sports sedan is 55 kg lighter than its predecessor and retains the ideal 50:50 weight distribution. As before, expect 1.5-litre three-cylinder (for global markets), 2.0-litre four-cylinder and 3.0-litre four-cylinder power plants covering the extensive line-up serving fleet-targeted base variants to M Performance variants and even the full-blown M variant, most with incremental updates.
The 2019 BMW 3 Series is in the final phase of global testing currently, and reports say that it will debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October this year. Order books in the European markets will open in November this year. In India, assembly from CKD kits at the BMW Group Plant Chennai may commence by mid-2019, with a market launch following soon after.
