The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition went on sale yesterday at 04:00 PM and the company has revealed that all the 250 units allotted to India sold within three minutes.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition, earlier scheduled to go on sale on 10 July, costs INR 2.49 lakh (on the road, Mumbai). The Classic 500 Pegasus Edition pays tribute to the original Royal Enfield RE/WD 125 ‘Flying Flea,’ used in World War II. While the bike is limited to 1,000 units globally, 250 units are for India, 190 units for the UK, 50 units are for the Australian market while the rest is for other countries.
Speaking on the sale of the Pegasus Edition, Rudratej (Rudy) Singh, President - Royal Enfield, said -
The sale for Pegasus motorcycles has shown the tremendous aspiration to own brand Royal Enfield once again. Beyond all expectations, the sale of 250 limited edition Pegasus motorcycles was concluded online in a record time of only 178 seconds! I congratulate all the customers who are now proud owners of the Classic Pegasus limited edition motorcycle and thank them for their support and patronage.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus is available in two paint schemes for the global markets - Olive Drab Green and Service Brown. However, Indian buyers only get the Service Brown colour scheme, as the Indian Government prohibits the sale of vehicles with military green colour. The Pegasus Edition features military-style canvas panniers with a Pegasus Logo as standard, while buyers also get a Pegasus edition helmet and a T-shirt.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition features a maroon and blue Pegasus emblem along with a unique serial number on the fuel tank, while a 'Made Like a Gun' decal adorns the battery box. The motorcycle comes with brown handlebar grips, and a leather strap and brass buckles on the air filter box. The headlight bezel, wire-spoke wheels, kickstart pedal and exhaust system, receive matte black finish. The badges and symbols on the Classic 500 Pegasus are identical to the Royal Enfield RE/WD 125 Flying Flea motorcycle.
