The Maruti Dzire and Maruti Swift have registered a stupendous sales growth in June 2018. Grabbing first and second spots respectively in the sales chart, the ever-so-popular sub-4 metre sedan and hatchback were India's best-selling cars last month.
The Maruti Dzire was India’s best selling sedan last year. In June 2018, sales were at 24,465 units, a growth of 103% Y-o-Y (June 2017: 12,049 units). Close rival Honda Amaze’s sales grew phenomenally by 663% Y-o-Y to 9,103 units, but that was due to the low base in June 2017 of 1,193 units.
The Maruti Swift’s sales have spiked since the launch of the third generation model in February 2018. In the pre-launch month, it registered 14,445 units. The next month, the number rose to 17,291 units. In June 2018, Maruti Suzuki sold 18,171 units, 84% more than in June 2017 (9,902 units). Close competitor, Hyundai i20’s sales, grew just 6% Y-o-Y to 11,262 units last month (June 2017: 10,609 units).
The third, fourth and fifth best-selling models of the month were also from Maruti Suzuki - Maruti Alto (18,070 units), Maruti Baleno (17,850 units) and Maruti Wagon R (11,311 units). In all, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,35,662 vehicles in India in June 2018, marking a growth of 45.5% Y-o-Y (June 2017: 93,263 units). Exports declined by 29.0% Y-o-Y to 9,319 units (June 2017: 13,131 units).

The 2018 Maruti Dzire’s prices range from INR 5.56 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) to INR 9.43 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available in 14 configurations. The 2018 Maruti Swift is available in 12 configurations, with prices starting at INR 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and going up to INR 8.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Both cars retail through the regular Arena dealerships.
