M&M has christened its upcoming MPV ‘Mahindra Marazzo’. The company will fully reveal the future model in a phased manner in the coming weeks.
The name comes from the word 'Marrazo' in the Basque language, a sublanguage in Spanish. Marrazo means a Shark. Mahindra has played with the spelling to add characteristics like pragmatic, determined, joyful and stubborn to the meaning. The reason why the company chose this name is that the MPV has taken a lot of inspiration from Shark in its design.
The Mahindra Marazzo is a product engineered through a collaboration between Mahindra North America Technical Centre (USA) and Mahindra Research Valley (India). Mahindra says that the new MPV has a tough body construction and claims that it offers the best-in-class cooling and excellent safety. The Marazzo has the largest footprint of any Mahindra vehicle. The company aims to set a new benchmark with this model in its segment, although mum’s the word on the positioning and the direct rivals.
