Maruti Suzuki has announced a service campaign for the new Swift and Baleno. Essentially a voluntary recall, the company cites "a possible fault in the brake vacuum hose" as the reason for issuing a recall for the 2018 Maruti Swift and Maruti Baleno.
As per a notice on the official Maruti Suzuki website, around 52,686 units of the new Swift and Baleno manufactured between 1 December 2017 and 16 March 2018 are covered in this campaign. Vehicles owners will be contacted May 14 onwards by their respective dealers for inspection and replacement of the faulty part. As is the case with most recalls, the inspection and replacement, if required, will be done free of cost.
The website gives access to a link wherein customers can check if their Maruti Swift or Maruti Baleno needs inspection by filling out the chassis number (MBH followed by 14 digit alpha-numeric number).

The Maruti Baleno was launched in October 2015, while the new Swift arrived three months ago in February. Both models are based Suzuki's Heartect platform and share the same petrol and diesel engines. They are manufactured at Suzuki's facility in Gujarat. Both models have constantly been in very high demand and as per a report from last week, Maruti currently has 1.1 lakh pending orders for the Swift, Baleno and Vitara Brezza combined.
