The 2018 Suzuki Jimny's 1.5-litre K15B engine is 15% lighter than the 1.3-litre M13A engine it replaces.

Final prices are to be confirmed, but Suzuki South Africa has indicated that the 2018 Jimny's price range will start at R 2,65,000 (INR 12,83,446.4). The top-end variant will cost approximately R 3,20,000 (INR 15,49,822.16). The new model will hit the market in three trims - GA Manual, GLX Manual, and GLX Auto.

According to Suzuki South Africa:

The new Jimny fills the very big shoes of its predecessors, which were responsible for creating a new market segment for compact, affordable, capable and – most importantly – fun, off roaders. In fact, this ladder-framed, low-range vehicle made Suzuki so iconic and loved that this is only the fourth all-new model since the LJ10 was launched in 1970.

Powering the 2018 Suzuki Jimny is the new K15B 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 75 kW (102 PS) of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. All variants come equipped with Suzuki's ALLGRIP PRO part-time 4WD system that is supported by the vehicle stability control (ESP) and a new Brake-enabled Limited Slip Differential system.

The South Africa-bound 2018 Suzuki Jimny measures 3,550 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width, and 1,730 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,550 mm wheelbase along with a ground clearance of 210 mm. Standard safety features on all the trims include ABS, brake assist system (BAS), electronic stability control (ESP), ISOFIX child seat mounts, and dual SRS front airbags.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) is reportedly concerned about the low demand for 3-door SUVs and is not bringing down the fourth generation Jimny in India.
