The 2018 Maruti Ertiga is on its way to dealerships now, as per a new report from gaadiwaadi. The launch is scheduled on the 21st of this month.
The 2018 Maruti Ertiga’s production takes place at the Manesar plant (Haryana). Around 100 units are rolling off the production line per day currently, but the output will go up after the launch.
The 2018 Maruti Ertiga should have a length, width and height of 4,395 mm, 1,735 mm and 1,690 mm respectively, translating to an increment of 99 mm, 40 mm and 5 mm in the respective dimensions. The wheelbase will span a length of 2,740 mm, the same as in the first generation model. These numbers are from Indonesia, the redesigned model’s launch market.
The second generation Maruti Ertiga sits on the lightweight and rigid Heartect platform that debuted in India in the Maruti Baleno and currently underpins the Maruti Ignis, Maruti Dzire and Maruti Swift. It will come powered with the all-new K15B 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine (104.7 PS/138 Nm) and the old D13A 1.3-litre DDiS 200 diesel engine (89.74 PS/200 Nm) - both featuring a new dual battery mild-hybrid system. A standard 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 4-speed automatic transmission (petrol-only) will send the drive to the wheels.
It is anticipated that the all-new E15A 1.5-litre diesel engine (TBA) will replace the D13A engine next year. Maruti Suzuki will likely use this opportunity to introduce a 6-speed manual transmission as well. The first generation model will remain in production, but become a ‘Tour’ offering in the commercial vehicle segment.
The 2018 Maruti Ertiga’s prices may start between INR 6.5-7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The outgoing model retails INR 6.34 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) onwards.
