2018 Mahindra XUV500 (facelift) W11 (O) in high demand - Report

Mahindra introduced the XUV500 facelift last month with a slew of cosmetic interior and exterior upgrades and increased power and torque outputs. The top-end W11 (O) grade of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 is in high demand reports Autocar India.

Mahindra dealerships are reporting that the W11 (O) grade of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 is dominating sales.

As per the publication, dealerships are reporting the highest demand for the range-topping trim. A lengthy list of features seems to be drawing customers to the W11 (O) trim. Highlights include an electric sunroof, infotainment system with an 18 cm touch-enabled display and Android Auto support, Connected Apps, Smart Watch connectivity, electrically adjustable driver's seats, soft touch leather trim on the dashboard, 18-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, dual front airbags, and side and curtain airbags.

According to dealers, the 18-inch diamond cut alloys are attracting buyers towards the top-end Mahindra XUV500 W11 (O) grade. Majority buyers are opting for the Pearl White colour and among the newly introduced Mystic Cooper and Crimson Red, the former is proving to be more popular.

In March 2018, sales dipper to 1,567 units, but that can be attributed to buzz about the launch of the new model. Expect Mahindra to post significantly higher sales figures for May 2018.

The Mahindra XUV500 competes directly with the Tata Hexa. Rivals also include the Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Compass. Although those two are positioned in a slightly different bracket price-wise. The launch of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 brought down prices. It starts at INR 12.32 lakhs. The popular W11 (O) grade in front-wheel drive configuration costs INR 16.68 lakhs (manual) and INR 17.88 lakhs (automatic). The XUV500 W11 (O) AWD manual and automatic are priced at INR 17.78 lakhs and INR 18.98 lakhs respectively. There is also a petrol variant on offer for INR 15.43 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom, Mumbai.

The diesel variant employs a 2.2 L mHawk155 engine developing 155 bhp and 360 Nm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. AWD is available as an option in the W11 (O) MT and AT grades only. The petrol variant of the Mahindra XUV500 gets a 140 bhp and 320 Nm 2.2 L mHawk turbo petrol paired with only a 6-speed automatic transmission. There is no AWD option of offer.
