DriveSpark has shared images of what appears to be the sub-4 m variant of the SsangYong Tivoli based Mahindra S201. The publication has also shared images of a camouflaged SsangYong Tivoli testing alongside a Hyundai Creta.
Mahindra plans to launch two variants of the Tivoli-based S201 - 5 seater and 7 seater. The former will be a sub-4 m offering evident from the considerably shorter rear overhang when compared to the regular Tivoli size variant. It could also feature slightly different styling, especially at the back. The tail lamp profile is clearly different on both test mules.
The longer variant will be a Hyundai Creta rival. The images suggest that Mahindra is benchmarking the S201 against the popular Hyundai SUV. Although much of it is hidden under camouflage, the test mule wears SsangYong badges and seems identical to the Tivoli. However, the Mahindra-badged production version will differ in terms of appearance.
The shortened version of the Tivoli will be powered by a turbocharged 1.2 L G80 petrol engine and a 1.5 L diesel engine. The 1.6 L mFalcon diesel expected to make its debut with the U321 MPV may be employed by the longer Mahindra S201 variant as well.

Mahindra is expected to launch the S201 in the second half of 2018. The sub-4m variant will rival the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon while the longer 7-seat variant will target the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Honda BR-V.
