The Royal Enfield Continental GT and the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Redditch edition have been displayed at the 2017 Thai Motor Expo. Here are the motorcycles’ live images from the show.
Royal Enfield Continental GT:
The Royal Enfield Continental GT was the fastest and the lightest bike from the brand, until the Continental GT 650 Twin came into the picture. The motorcycle sports a café racer design, complete with a chiselled tank, clip-on handlebars, and a round headlamp. The motorcycle has a 535 cc single cylinder engine with fuel injection. It is capable of generating 29.1 bhp of power at 5,100 rpm and 44 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine mates with a 5-speed transmission, and nestles inside a twin downtube double cradle frame.
Suspension bits include telescopic front forks and a pair of Paioli gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. The bike gets a 300 mm front Brembo disc and a 240 mm rear disc. The 18-inch spoke wheels are shod with 100-section front and 130-section rear Pirelli Sport Demon tyres. The bike tips the scales at 184 kg, kerb, and costs THB 219,800 (INR 433,896).
Royal Enfield Classic 500 Redditch:
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Redditch edition draws inspiration from the paint schemes of the Redditch-built 50s era Royal Enfield motorcycles. Along with the classic colours, the Classic 350 Redditch Series features the Royal Enfield Redditch monogram first used in 1939 on the prototype of the ‘Royal Baby’, a 125 cc, 2-stroke motorcycle.
Power comes from a single cylinder 499 cc engine with fuel injection. The powerplant produces 27.2 bhp at 5,250 rpm, and 41.3 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Telescopic front fork and twin gas-charged rear shock absorbers hold the frame. Brakes include 280 mm front disc and a 153 mm rear drum. The 19-inch front and the 18-inch rear spoke wheels are shod with Avon tyres. The motorcycle comes at a price of THB 189,800.
