Boon Siew Honda, Honda’s authorised distributor in Malaysia has launched the 2018 Honda CBR500R in the country, with prices starting from RM 31,681 including GST.
The 2018 Honda CB500R features fresh graphics for a sharper look. Honda has designed the CBR500R on the concept of ‘Aggressive Speed Shape’. The bike is available in three colours: Graphite Black, Grand Prix Red, and Pearl Metalloid White. While the engine and the steel diamond-tube frame remain the same as the 2017 version, the headlight and tail lamp are now LED.

The 2018 Honda CB500R features a 471 cc parallel twin DOHC mill. The engine punches out 50.3 PS of power at 8,500 rpm, and 43 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. A six-speed gearbox does duty on the motorcycle. The fuel tank capacity stands at 16.7 litres, and as per WMTC mode, the fuel efficiency is 29.4 km/l.
The front telescopic fork has adjustable preload, and the rear gets a pro-link monoshock with 9-stage preload adjustment. Brakes include petal discs on both ends, with dual-channel ABS as an option. The 2018 Honda CBR500R will be available from January 2018. The ABS variant costs RM 35,179 (INR 553,549.89), including GST. Road tax, insurance and registration are extra. The bike is available with two years or 20,000 km manufacturing warranty (whichever comes first).
