IAB reader Nabeel Ali has spotted the TVS Apache RR 310S (production TVS Akula 310) near Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The motorcycle sports a uniquely designed rear tyre hugger, which acts as a saree guard as well.
This type of tyre hugger, if homologated, could eliminate the need for the grille type saree guard, which does not go well with most faired motorcycles. The tyre hugger is mounted on the left side of the swingarm, just like the one spotted last month. Exposed yellow wires in the engine compartment and on the tail indicate that the bike is still undergoing last-minute tests. The design of the motorcycle is akin to the patent design image that was leaked in August. The large windscreen, clip-on handlebars, not-so-aggressive ergonomics indicate the bike’s sports touring intention.

The motorcycle borrows the powerplant from the BMW G310R. The G310R employs a 313 cc single cylinder, DOHC engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection. The engine pairs with a 6-speed gearbox. It develops 34 PS of power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. TVS is likely to tune the engine differently in the Apache to suit its dynamics.
The vertical digital instrument cluster and switchgear are visible on the test mule. The bike employs upside down front fork with gold finish and a rear monoshock. The monoshock gets a plastic covering to protect it from dust as well. The bike sports disc brakes on both ends, with the front using a radial calliper. ABS seems to be absent on this test vehicle.
