Another talking point of the update is the new 102 cc single cylinder 2-valve DTS-i engine. The powerplant makes 8.2 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 8.6 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Compared to its predecessor, the engine makes 0.3 PS more, and 0.26 Nm more torque at 500 rpm sooner. The powerplant works in tandem with a four-speed transmission. The bike comes with a claimed mileage of 104 km/l. A 10,000 km oil change interval and 5,000 km service interval mean hassle-free ownership.

For suspension, the bike employs telescopic forks at the front which is 28 percent longer compared to its rivals. The rear double spring suspension is 22 percent longer as well. The motorcycle uses ‘Spring Soft’ foam seat for added comfort. The rear features foot pads for more comfort and better grip. The front-end gets the same 110 mm drum, but the rear drum is 20 mm bigger, at 130 mm. At 108 kg kerb, the new Platina is 3 kg lighter. The bike gets the same 11-litre tank as the previous version.

The new Platina Comfortec rivals with Hero Splendor series, TVS Sport and Hero HF Deluxe series. Bajaj hopes to improve its sales numbers for the year with the new Platina and the upcoming new version of the Bajaj V.
