Replying to a Team-BHP member's e-mail, FCA India President and Managing Director Kevin Flynn has confirmed that the Jeep Compass Petrol Automatic is now in production at the Ranjangaon plant.
Although it was launched for sale, Jeep India only produced variants of the Compass that were anticipated to garner high demand initially; specifically the diesel manual variants. The Jeep Compass petrol automatic is available in two grades - Limited and Limited Option. They're priced at INR 18.96 lakh and INR 19.67 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively.

The petrol variant is powered by a 1.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which outputs 162 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. The base Sport variant has a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the automatic Limited and Limited Option is equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and Jeep's Active Drive 4x4 System. Also available is a diesel variant that packs a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, Multijet II unit developing 173hp and 350 Nm of peak torque. It's only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Compass diesel certified fuel efficiency is 17.1 km/L (4x2 variant).

Jeep also confirmed that a diesel automatic variant is in the works. However, interested folks will have to wait till January 2018 to place an order for one. It will come equipped with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Another option under consideration is a sunroof, although there's no official word on when it will be available.
