Will hit the European markets later this year.
The 2017 VW Polo was spied completely undisguised in South Africa earlier this month. Based on one of the spy shots, IAB's automotive illustrator Shoeb Kalania has created a near-production rendering of the next-gen VW Polo's posterior.
The VW Polo is entering its sixth generation this year, for which it will undergo an evolutionary redesign while retaining the current model's proportions to look more mature. The new generation model should have a longer and wider body to offer more interior space, especially for the rear-seat passengers. Volkswagen reportedly won't make a 3-door hatchback version this time.
The next-gen VW Polo will have a fresh new cabin with soft-touch materials, new trim elements, a digital instrument cluster, new generation touchscreen infotainment systems and the latest parking system. The sixth-gen model will be based on the new MQB A0 platform, which should make the car lighter and more rigid besides offering compatibility with newer powertrains.
The 1.0-litre TSI petrol, 1.0-litre TSI BlueMotion petrol, 1.5-litre TSI Evo and 1.6-litre TDI diesel units should form the engine line-up for the car. The model range may include a CNG-compliant variant of the 1.0-litre TSI petrol model, as well as a performance GTI variant with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine.
The Euro-spec sixth-gen VW Polo will enter production at the Navarra factory in Spain in June 2017.
