Global-spec version confirmed to debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
The 2017 Suzuki Swift has been officially unveiled in its first market, Japan, where its sales will commence on 4 January, 2017. Here are the fourth generation model's images from its launch.
The JDM-spec 2017 Suzuki Swift is 3,840 mm-long, 1,695 mm-wide and 1,500 mm/1,525 mm-tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. It can be had with the K12C 1.2-litre DUALJET VVT four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 67 kW (91 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm, with or without the WA05A electric motor that generates 2.3 kW (3.1 PS) at 1,000 rpm and 50 Nm of torque at 100 rpm, as well as the K10C 1.0-litre BOOSTERJET VVT three-cylinder petrol engine that develops 75 kW (102 PS) at 5,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 1,700-4,500 rpm.
The 1.2-litre petrol model will be available with a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission, in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive drivetrain layouts. It promises a fuel economy as high as 27.4 km/l (in JC08 test cycle). The 1.2-litre petrol-electric (mild-hybrid) model gets a continuously variable transmission as standard, and will be available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive drivetrain layouts. Varying as per the configuration, the fuel economy can be as high as 24 km/l (in JC08 test cycle). The 1.0-litre petrol model gets a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard, which sends power to the front wheels. This model has a fuel economy rating of 20 km/l (in JC08 test cycle).
The 2017 Suzuki Swift will be available in XL, XG, RS, Hybrid ML, Hybrid RS and RSt grades in Japan. LED headlamps, 16-inch wheels, C-pillar integrated door handles, flat-bottomed steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration compatibility, collision-mitigating system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, six airbags, ABS and ESP are key features of the all-new Suzuki Swift.
Though officially unacknowledged, the 2017 Maruti Swift should be launched in India in H2 2017. The Indian-spec all-new Swift should have changes made to the ground clearance, suspension setup and tyres to adapt to the poor road conditions, and be devoid of more advanced driver assistance features.
The 2017 Maruti Swift Dzire's launch will precede the 2017 Maruti Swift, as it has been reported that the sedan will hit the market in May 2017.
