Gets a bold makeover to the front- and rear-end.
At the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt, the fourth generation 2017 Kia Sportage has made its world debut today. It is expected to be the first model to roll-out of Kia's new plant in Mexico.
The exterior of the Kia Sportage draws heavy influence from the Chinese-spec Kia KX3 Concept. Characteristic features include a ‘tiger-nose’ grille, swept-back projector headlamps, ‘ice-cube’ foglamps, LED tail lamps joined by a chrome strip, shark-fin antenna, roof spoiler, and dual exhaust tips.
The 2017 Kia Sportage claims to have Kia's “most refined, highest-quality cabin to date". The dashboard follows a contemporary and horizontal styling, while the center console is angled towards driver. It gets redesigned seats, metal trim blended with soft-touch materials. As for equipment, it features wireless phone charging, 7-inch screen for Kia’s UVO infotainment system, and ambient lighting.
The engine lineup will comprise of two petrol options and one diesel engine. The petrol units are a 1.2 T-GDi turbo and 1.6 GDi, while the diesel mill will mostly be a 1.7 CRDi unit. These engines are coupled to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions, while a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox is also offered in the 1.2L option. An AWD system will also be available as optional equipment.
