Will be available only in 4-door configuration.
The long-awaited second generation 2017 Honda Ridgeline has been been unveiled at the 2016 North American International Motor Show in Detroit. The midsize pickup is 4 inches longer and 5.4 inches wider in its second generation and will offer a payload capacity of 1,600 lbs. and a 4-foot wide flat bed space.
The second generation Honda Ridgeline is based on the company's Global Light Truck platform, and as expected, features a unibody construction. The company says that its lightweight unibody construction, next-gen ACE body structure and fully independent suspension delivers better ride and handling quality than traditional body-on-frame construction. Powering the pickup, is a 3.5-liter i-VTEC naturally aspirated V6 gasoline engine.
For the first time, the Honda Ridgeline will be available in front-wheel drive drivetrain layout. As before, all-wheel drive will also be available. The all-wheel drive models will come with the company's i-VTM4 torque vectoring AWD technology that features Intelligent Terrain Management with Normal, Sand, Snow and Mud modes.
On the inside, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline features push button start, tri-zone climate control, a full-color TFT display in the instrument panel, 8-inch Display Audio touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and 60/40-split and folding second-row seat.
Coming to the utility, the all-new model's standard, lockable In-Bed Trunk now features a fully flat floor and includes a drain plug. The tailgate is hinged both at the bottom and along its left side, and makes loading and unloading easier. The items on the bed can be secured with the 350-lb tie down cleats. The bed also features an 400-watt power inverter behind an access panel in the right bed wall, which can be used for various functions like recharging power tools or power a flat screen TV.
Safety and assistance features include Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), multi-angle rearview camera and Blind Spot Information system.
