A group of Ford EcoSport facelift test mules was spotted recently revealing exterior details and paint shades. The images were captured near Chennai, close to Ford's production facility, by Anything on Wheels. The group includes uncamouflaged and semi camouflaged units of mid and top level trims.
The cars are finished in Moondust Silver, Smoke Grey and Panther Black colours, all of which are offered on the current model. However, we have spotted new paint shades in the past. Out of the four test mules, the ones in Smoke Grey and Moondust Silver appear to be mid level Trend trims. Both get different wheel covers and conventional headlamps with halogen bulbs. The one in Panther Black is the top-end Titanium trim and gets alloys similar to the ones the show car was wearing at the LA Auto Show, where the Ford EcoSport made its global debut last November.
Earlier spy shots confirm updates the cabin of the Ford EcoSport gets. There's an 8-inch floating touchscreen for the infotainment system that comes with Ford's SYNC 3 AppLink. Other notable changes include a new centre console, updated instrument cluster and a new steering wheel.
On the specifications front, the big news is the introduction of a new three-cylinder petrol engine from the Dragon family. This 1.5 L unit powers the Brazilian-spec EcoSport and comes with 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. Power output is rated at 130 CV (128 hp ) and torque at 153 Nm.
There is still some uncertainty regarding the 2017 Ford EcoSport launch details. The latest report claims deliveries of the EcoSport will commence November onwards. Ford is expected to launch the new EcoSport by the end of the festive season.
