The engine in question is the 2.2-litre, four cylinder diesel engine (OM611) from the Force One, which is also a Mercedes-derived engine. In the latter, it produces 141 PS and 321 Nm of torque, thus offering a power bump of 59 PS and 91 Nm of torque.

The current Gurkha is sold with a 2.6-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine (OM616) that produces 82 PS and 230 Nm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and features differential locks on both front and rear axles in 4x4 variants. It also has a ground clearance of 210 mm.
