To be seen at the race track this year.
Suzuki Motorcycle India showcased the Suzuki Gixxer Cup race bike and the 2016 Suzuki GSX-RR MotoGP bike at the Auto Expo 2016 in Greater Noida. The latter was unveiled at the EICMA in Milan last year.
Suzuki Gixxer Cup race bike
The amateur racing version of the Suzuki Gixxer SF features racing-type clip-on handlebars, custom racing aluminium rear-set foot pegs, aerodynamic rear seat cowl, megaphone-type racing exhaust, special race-compound tyres and performance high-flow racing air filter.
The motorcycle is powered by the same 154.9 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine with SOHC and two valves. It is tuned to produce over 15 PS of maximum power and over 14 Nm of peak torque. The motor is carbureted and is mated to a five-speed gearbox.
2016 Suzuki GSX-RR MotoGP bike
The new Suzuki GSX-RR for the Ecstar Suzuki team is constructed on a new twin-spar aluminium frame and has new engine specifications. The bike is equipped with a seamless transmission (cassette type) instead of a standard unit. Suzuki has claimed that the motor is capable of producing over 230 PS of peak power and is capable of achieving a top speed of more than 330 km/h (205 mph). It is essentially a water-cooled inline four-cylinder 1.0-litre engine with DOHC and four valves per cylinder. Stopping power comes from carbon disc brake upfront and steel disc brake at the rear, both operated by Brembo calipers. The suspension is from Ohlins and the wheel size is 16.5 inches.
At the official test at Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia, the 2016 GSX-RR posted the 10th quickest lap time of 2:01.244, courtesy of Maverick Vinales.
