Shifting Gears reports that the latest generation Toyota Fortuner will launch in India in end-2016. It was earlier reported to arrive in late-2017.
The new Toyota Fortuner will be locally manufactured at TKM's plant in Karnataka. Engine lineup will be sourced from the Toyota Innova Crysta, which includes 2.4-liter GD diesel engine with 149 PS and 343 Nm of torque and a 2.8-liter GD diesel engine that produces 177 PS and 360 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes, while a 4WD system will be offered in the top-end grade.
The latest Toyota Fortuner adopts a sharp styling that is a departure from the current model. In terms of dimensions, it is 90 mm longer and 15 mm wider than the older Fortuner. It is also 15 mm shorter in height, though engineers have managed to retain the 2,750 mm wheelbase.

Some of the noteworthy features of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner include Bi-Beam LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, A-TRC Traction Control (TRC) system, Down Hill Assist Control (DAC) system, electric tailgate, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, T-Connect infotainment system with satellite navigation and reversing camera.
