Will be imported from Thailand.
Mitsubishi South Africa has confirmed that the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be launched in the country in the second quarter of 2016.
Specifications for the South African market has not been revealed. The design will be consistent with the Thai spec though, with the front gets the ‘Dynamic Shield’ with loads of chrome, slim headlights with LED DRLs. The fog lamps are tucked away at the lower portion of the bumper. The sides get a swooping roofline as well as a sharply rising belt line at the rear portion. The sleek tail lights are the defining feature at the back and go all the way to the bumper.
The interior, though based on the Triton pickup, gets a different HMI, with a new four-spoke steering wheel, leather upholstery, and flowing center console nestled between two thick chrome bars at both ends.
The Pajero Sport is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged diesel engine paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission which develops 181 PS and 430 Nm. Power is sent to the wheels via a Super-Select 4WD-II four-wheel drive system with a new Off-road Mode and by Hill Descent Control.
In terms of safety, the Pajero Sport gets seven airbags, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Forward Collision Mitigation system (FCM), multi-around monitor and Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS).
