Gets a coupe-ish roof-line.
Mercedes Benz has teased the 2016 Mercedes E-Class (W213) in an official sketch of the car's front quarter view. The model is scheduled to premiere on January 11, the first media day of the 2016 NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) in Detroit.
Reasserting the inspiration from the Mercedes C and S Class models, the sketch shows the new E Class adopting a familiar design, but with a sloping roofline that is typical of a four door coupe much like the CLS. The interior, which has been unveiled online, is also inspired by the C and S.
The cabin of the 2016 E Class is reminiscent of the S Class' as the dual digital display and the four air vents at the centre of the dashboard are derived from the flagship saloon. The base variant is would be equipped with an analog instrument cluster instead of the extended digital screen.
Based on the Mercedes Rear Wheel Architecture (MRA platform), the new E Class is not much expected to be larger than its predecessor, the W212, and it is believed to have lost a considerable amount of weight.
