GLE Coupe is the first model to get the AMG Sport variant.
Mercedes-Benz showcased the Mercedes GLE Coupe at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The car is based on the same platform as the M-Class (now GLE) and is the crossover-coupe version of the GLE SUV.
The exterior appears to be well executed with the face having a bold look and the posterior carrying a sleek appearance. The face is dominated by the single-slat sport grille that is framed by the full-LED headlights. The bumper gets a wide mesh grille with chrome surrounds, with the air intakes also getting the same treatment. Moving to the rear, there is a sloping roofline, subtle tailgate spoiler, S Class Coupe-inspired taillight design and twin exhausts with chrome surrounds.
The interior welcomes with sport seats, compact sports steering wheel, free-standing infotainment display and an audio system with eight speakers. The center console houses the COMAND controller with touchpad for controlling the infotainment functions. The upper section of the instrument panel is covered in Artico leather while silver-shadow elements have been used to accentuate the AC vents, steering wheel, dashboard and door trims.
The GLE Coupe is offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The diesel variant, which is the GLE 350d 4Matic, is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 producing 258 hp and 620 Nm of peak torque. The petrol-powered GLE 400 4Matic on the other hand, is driven by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 generating 329 hp and 480 Nm of torque.
Both these engines are paired to the 9G-tronic automatic gearbox sending power to all four wheels through the 4Matic AWD system. There is also a more powerful GLE 450 Coupe AMG Sport that has output figures of 367 hp and 520 Nm coming from its 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 petrol engine; it is also mated to the 9-speed auto box. The GLE 450 AMG Sport will launch in India on January 12, Mercedes Benz India announced.
