Very minor exterior tweaks, no mechanical changes.
The 2016 BMW 6 Series facelift had its public outing at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show (2015 NAIAS). The refreshed 6 Series range is expected to launch in India this year, most probably in the first half of the year.
BMW showcased the refreshed versions of the 6 Series Gran Coupe, 6 Series Convertible and M6 Coupe at the show. In India though, the German car maker sells only the Gran Coupe and M6 Gran Coupe.
Nevertheless, changes come in the form of mildly redesigned front and rear bumpers, a revised kidney grille and LED multibeam headlights. Four new color options, and new 17-, 18- and 20-inch alloy wheels round up the changes on the outside.
Inside too, the changes aren't very significant. New two-tone leather upholstery options, better material quality and a heads-up display are the list of changes to the grand tourer.
Under the hood, there are no changes at all. The 6 Series Gran Coupe sold in India is powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine capable of 313 bhp and 630 Nm of torque. It accelerates the car from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and onwards to a limited top-speed of 250 km/h.
The M6 Gran Coupe is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine capable of 560 bhp and 680 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h takes only 4.2 seconds.
