Yamaha MT-15 could look like a KTM Duke – Rendering
Ashwin Ram N P, Ashwin is a guy with a slightly unorthodox perception of everything. His struggle to choose a career path, between art and automotive engineering, has landed him in the field of auto journalism, where he has paved way for himself to practise both.
Could be considered for India.
The suspected naked version of the Yamaha R15, which could be dubbed Yamaha MT-15, has been rendered by Julak Sendie Design. It is based on the recent spy shots of the camouflaged test mules from Thailand and Indonesia.
The overall silhouette is reminiscent of the KTM Duke, and the other parts of the model too carry a mild resemblance to the Austrian street fighter more than the Japanese super sports model it is actually based on.
Upon dissecting the components for a focussed look, the current R15’s parts are indeed inherited on the trial prototypes which was what suggested that it was the MT-15. This excludes the mono-headlamp, single-piece handlebar, and the Up-Side Down telescopic fork, which are designed specifically for the naked version. The inverted front fork could be an equipment that will be present in the next generation R15.
The naked R15 could make it to the Indian market where the Yamaha MT-03, the Yamaha R3-based naked machine, is expected to debut. The quarter litre models, the Yamaha R25 and the MT-25, are however not expected to be brought to the sub-continent.
