Has a zero-emission range of 34 km.
Mercedes Benz GLC 350e 4MATIC has been showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The compact SUV is the company’s second plug-in hybrid model following the C-Class.
Mercedes has worked towards getting maximum fuel efficiency through new drive systems, enhanced aerodynamics and lightweighting.
Aerodynamics efficiency of the 350e is excellent as its drag coefficient brought down to 0.31. The vehicle is 80 kg lighter than the GLK out of which the body itself accounts for 50 kg loss; this reduction is attributed to the usage of aluminium along with ultra-high strength steel.
The hybrid system of the GLC 350e consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 211 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The electric motor generates 85 kW (116 hp) and 340 Nm of torque and draws power from the 8.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. In combined operation, the car's 0-100 km/h comes up in just 5.9 seconds with a top speed of 235 km/h. Power is sent to the all wheels through Mercedes’ 4MATIC system and 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission that has been optimized to work with the hybrid system.
The PHEV has a claimed combined fuel efficiency of 38.46 km/l with carbon dioxide emissions of 60 g/km. It can cover 34 km in all-electric mode with a top speed of 140 km/h.
The GLC 350 e comes with standard safety systems such as Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Crosswind Assist, Headlamp Assist and Attention Assist.
