To be showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show.
The 2016 VW Tiguan that will be based on the MQB platform, will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA 2015), according to a latest report.
A fresh rendering of the new Tiguan has now surfaced on Auto Plus, which shows the front-end inspired by the T-ROC concept showcased at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
Going by earlier reports, engine options for the new Tiguan will include both petrol and diesel mills in the 1.2-2.0 liter displacement range, mated to manual or automatic dual-clutch (DSG) gearboxes and the AWD system (4MOTION). There will also be a plug-in hybrid variant added to the range at a later stage. The three versions will include a 5-seat variant, a slightly larger 7-seat variant, and a Evoque-rivalling Coupe-like variant.
While the Tiguan is not sold in India, the 7-seat version of the next generation model could be an interesting option in the premium SUV segment.
Competitors: Range Rover Evoque, Audi Q3
Launch date: 2016 (Europe)
Expected price: equivalent of INR 23 lakh onward
