Minor cosmetic changes for Porsche's flagship SUV.
Porsche has launched the Cayenne facelift for the Chinese market at a base price of 972,000 yuan (equivalent of Rs 97.8 lakhs). Expected to start deliveries soon, the SUV is currently being showcased at the ongoing Guangzhou Auto Show 2014. It will be available in four versions: Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne S e-hybrid, and Cayenne Turbo.
On the outside, the Cayenne now follows a similar design as seen on the Macan, especially with the optional four-point LED DRLs (not seen on this show car). The taillamps have been redesigned, too. The overall shape remains the same – proportional yet sporty.
Inside, the refreshed Cayenne gets a new steering wheel which resembles the flagship 918 Spyder. There are no other design changes, however, optional equipment like seat ventilation for the rear seats can be specced.
Powering the Cayenne is a 3-litre supercharged petrol engine that makes 333 hp and 440Nm of torque. Next up is the Cayenne S, a slightly more powerful version that uses a 414 hp producing twin-turbo 3.6-litre petrol engine.
The Cayenne e-hybrid uses a supercharged 3-litre V6 petrol engine in conjunction with an electric motor to produce a combined power of 410 hp, while offering a greener and cleaner alternative to conventional powertrain options.
And right on the top of the range is the Cayenne Turbo, which certainly is no GTS, but isn't too far from it either. Powered by a turbocharged 4.8-litre V8 engine that makes a max 512 hp, the Turbo can do a sub 5s 0-100 kmph sprint.
The refreshed Cayenne will be available in India next year.
