Gets a newly-developed diesel engine.
Mitsubishi has revealed the new 2015 Triton pickup in Thailand today, nine years after the previous generation model entered production. The Triton, the company says, is one of its best selling models, and is positioned in the one-ton pickup market. The previous generation model sold over 1.26 million units.

The new Triton is available in Single, Double and Club Cab variants, and can be had with three engines. A newly developed 2.4-liter turbo-diesel makes 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque, and is joined by a 2.5-liter diesel producing 178 PS and 400 Nm and a 2.4-liter petrol developing 128 PS and 194 Nm of torque.
Depending on the engine, the Triton features a 5- or 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission. A rotary 4WD controller allows the driver to switch between 2WD and 4WD modes.
Mitsubishi will disclose the variants and features of the new Triton in the days to come. However, the company says that engineers have optimized the suspension, improved the sound deadening by "strategic placement" of insulation and have upped the safety aspect by way of a new RISE impact safety body.
Produced at the Laem Chabang Plant in Thailand, Mitsubishi says that it will eventually roll out the new Triton to markets in ASEAN, Oceania, Middle East, Europe, Africa and Latin America. The Thai plant will export the Triton to 150 countries.
The 2015 Triton will form the base for the next iteration of the Pajero Sport SUV.
