Third generation of Audi's BMW Z4 rival.
Audi India today launched the new generation TT sportscar in New Delhi at INR 60.34 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
The third generation of the iconic sportscar is available in India exclusively in the Coupe bodystyle. Based on the new VW MQB architecture, engineers have saved over 50 kg of weight, despite lengthening the wheelbase by 37 mm.
On sale in India is the TT 45TFSI, which gets its power from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with indirect injection supplementing the direct injection of the FSI. It produces 230 hp and 370 Nm of torque, and is paired exclusively to a 6-speed DSG transmission (a manual gearbox is available on the international version). Audi claims the new TT does 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and hits a top-speed of 253 km/h.
The more powerful TT-S, which makes 310 hp, will not be sold in India at least for now. Audi also offers a diesel engine on the sportscar in European markets.
The new TT debuts the Virtual Cockpit system, which is being rolled out on newer models from the VW brand. This 1,440 x 540 pixels fully digital instrument cluster features a 12.3-inch TFT screen and an Nvidia Tegra 3 graphics chip.
Turbine-like AC vents with integrated controls for the temperature system, voice recognition, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and leather upholstery are some of the standard features seen on the new TT.
The TT is imported as a CBU (Completely Built up Unit) from Audi's Hungarian plant.
