Renault India have reintroduced the Renault Scala Travelogue edition at a starting price of INR 8.48 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi, RXL petrol variant). The Scala Travelogue Edition was launched in April 2013, and was limited to the top-end RXZ diesel variant.
The Travelogue pack now comes on the RXL and RXZ trim for the petrol and diesel and also the Scala CVT. The only exterior change is a contrast belt line that runs along the window sill from the headlamps all the way to the rear. Moving to the cabin, the car offers a navigation system and Bluetooth connectivity, illuminated scuff plates and a rear sun shade.
The Travelogue Edition's re-entry could have been buoyed by the sales boost provided by the Duster Adventure Edition. Moreover, the competition in this space is about to intensify with Nissan and Ford lining up their facelifted mid-size sedans and the City running rings around all competitors with the aid of the diesel variant.
What cannot be overlooked is the lack of sales. The Scala managed just 787 units in the first five months of 2014, translating to an average sale of 157 units a month. Compare this to the Honda City, which has managed over 7,000 units every month since the relaunch.
