BMW today launched the 3 Series Gran Turismo at the Auto Expo 2014, priced at Rs 42.75 lakh (All India, Ex-showroom.) The 3 Series GT would be locally produced at the BMW plant in Chennai and be available across dealerships in India from March 2014.
One variant of the 3 Series GT has been launched, the 320d, and will be available in the Luxury trim.
The 3 Series Gran Turismo is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine that develops 184 hp, developing a maximum torque of 380 Nm. The twin turbo 4-cylinder engine is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic Automatic transmission.
The 3 Series GT gets three driving modes, Comfort, ECOPRO and Sport. The rear-wheel drive 3 Series GT gets the standard Servotronic steering assist. The 520-liter luggage space can be expanded to 1,600 liters thanks to a 40/20/40 split rear backrest with fold-down headrests.
The BMW ConnectedDrive package on the car includes the BMW iDrive, 16.5 cm colour central information display, connectivity through Bluetooth and USB devices, HiFi loudspeaker system and BMW Live. Park Distance Control rear and front along with rear view camera come as standard.
The 3 Series GT gets a rear spoiler that is automatically deployed past 100 kph and immediately retracted once below 70 kph.
