Sources have confirmed to Autocar Professional that Ford will showcase an all-new global small car model, codenamed "B562", at the 2014 Auto Expo in Noida. The report states that two reliable sources confirm that even though the project is under development, it will shown at the Expo.
The codename B562 refers to the Ford Ka concept that the Blue Oval had unveiled in Brazil in November last year. The Ka concept was the second product to come out of Ford Brazil, the first being the EcoSport. Ford retails a heavily modified first-generation Ka in Brazil and the latest-generation model exclusively in Europe. The recently unveiled Ka concept is aimed at emerging markets like India, China and Brazil.
When launched in India in what we hope would be 2015, the Ka concept-based hatchback will either replace the Figo entirely or be placed at a segment higher, competing with the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Celerio. Based on a global platform, we expect that it will sport a host of features not available in the Figo, like Ford's SYNC system, powershift automatic transmission, rear power windows and possibly the 1.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine.
The Ka concept will be put into production in Brazil this year.
