The refreshed Porsche Panamera range premiered at the 2013 Auto Shanghai in April this year, and Porsche India introduced the updated model in early October. The Stuttgart-based carmaker has now added another variant to its Indian lineup - the 2014 Porsche Panamera Turbo S - which happens to the fastest and most powerful Panamera in the international lineup. Porsche says its more luxurious as well.
Compared to the Turbo, the Turbo S produces an additional 50 hp, courtesy of two new turbochargers with larger compressors. The injection pressure is increased while the air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber is prepared more 'effectively'. As a result, torque is boosted by 50 Nm.
The 4.8-liter V8 twin-turbo now produces 570 hp and 800 Nm of torque (750 Nm without overboost). While 0-100km/h takes 3.8 seconds, the top-speed is rated at 310 km/h.
Order books for the Panamera Turbo S are now open, though the exact price has not been announced. Given that the Panamera Turbo costs INR 1.99 crores, expect the Turbo S to cost at least INR 24 lakhs more (the price difference in the UK between the Turbo and the Turbo S comes to GBP 23,146 which is about 24 lakhs). First units will be available in February 2014.
