The 2014 Mini 5-door has been launched in India at a price of INR 35.2 lakhs, ex-Showroom, pan-India.
The 5-door Mini for India is offered in a single variant: Cooper D. It is powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel engine which produces 114 hp and 270 Nm of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission drives the front wheels of the car, and takes it from 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds. BMW says that the car will hit a top-speed of 200 km/h. Like the 3-door model, the 5-door also achieves a fuel efficiency of 25.6 km/l.
This is the first time the Mini sees a 5-door model, though the Countryman variant has always been offered with 5-doors. The 5-door Mini is in fact a sub-4 meter vehicle as it measures 3,982 mm in length, 1,727 mm in width, 1,425 mm in height and 2,567 mm in wheelbase.
Engineers have extended the wheelbase by 72 mm, the overall length by 161 mm and the height by 11 mm compared to the 3-door model which was also launched today. The larger dimensions have increased rear legroom by 72 mm, the headroom by 15 mm and elbow width by 61 mm over its 3-door sibling.
Boot space too has gone up by 67 liters to 278 liters (719 liters with the rear seats folded). Like the 3-door, the 5-door will also be available in a range of 11 exterior colors with plenty of customization options.
