To celebrate its 35th anniversary in Argentina, Honda has launched a special edition variant of the Honda City. Only 350 units of the special model will be made.
Launched under the name 'Honda City EXL 35th Anniversary Special Edition' in a 'Tafetta White' paint option, the vehicle wears a special chrome grille and several existing accessories.
There are no mechanical differences in the car, and it features the normally used 1.5L i-VTEC 16v engine with 120 hp output. The Argentinian City can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission, with the latter getting paddle shifters.
The anniversary edition in manual is priced at 158,910 pesos (15.61 lakh rupees) while the automatic variant is priced at 168,820 pesos (16.59 lakh rupees).
Honda are on the brink of launching the new City in India, and we would imagine it entering global markets (60 of them in all) by the end of next year. Towards the fag end of a model's lifetime, manufacturers use discounts, offers or special editions to clear out inventory, and the 35th anniversary edition City could come from such thinking.
