The Mercedes-Benz CLA was unveiled at this year's Detroit Motor Show in January. Since then, the accolades for the A-Class based four-door coupe have been coming in strong. At the time of the unveil, the CLA was the 'Most Aerodynamic Car' in the world. Months into its world premiere, the CLA bagged a Red Dot Design Award, along with its sibling, the A Class.
This time around, the CLA has been awarded the 'Most Beautiful Compact Car' in the Autonis design awards. Organized by German car magazine Auto Motor Und Sport, this year's Autonis saw 17,680 readers cast their votes. The CLA took the trophy with a majority 29.3% voting in favor of it.
When asked about the CLAs eye-catching looks, Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management at Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars said -
We are transferring the expressive design of the Concept Style Coupe seamlessly into series production. With its unmistakable design idiom, I am convinced that the CLA will significantly form the Mercedes-Benz brand image.
Autonis also saw 23.2% voting in favor of the Audi A3 Sportback (which has slim chances of making its way into India), and 10% voting in favor of the A3 Sedan (which has already started testing in India and is launching next year along with the Mercedes CLA).
The new Skoda Octavia saw 6.6% while the Volvo V40 Cross Country saw 3% favoring its design. The other side of the chart saw the Dacia Logan MCV with -36.1% and the Toyota Auris with -17.8%.
