Another enthusiast, who ensured that the motorcycle was in the best shape possible, owned the Silver Plus before Vishal purchased it in early 2018. The 1984 Royal Enfield Silver Plus came for INR 20,000 from Mysore, and all it required was regular service to stay in a healthy condition. Royal Enfield developed the two-wheeler with the assistance from Zundapp.
The vehicle is in near stock condition, and if you exclude the saddle and the exhaust, the Silver Plus rocks all the stock body panels that it received from the factory, including those alloy wheels. Thus, the front features a boxy headlight with a chrome surround. The front fender also gets a chrome finish.
The cockpit includes a stock instrument console, which is followed by a tall-set handlebar that takes care of the steering duties. Chrome finish continues to garnish body panels such as the fuel tank’s sides and the filler cap. The saddle, unlike the standard motorcycle, is a split style unit with the rider’s part of the seat sitting taller than the pillion.
The tail continues to feature a pillion grab rail that also doubles up as saddlebag supports to stop the luggage from rubbing against the rear tyre.
Hardware specifications are basic and conventional telescopic forks at the front perform suspension duties. At the rear are twin sided springs. Braking department includes drum units on both wheels. The motorcycle uses a single cylinder, 2-stroke, air-cooled engine.
