Volkswagen has showcased its SUV, the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace bridges the gap between compact Tiguan and the premium class Touareg. The 5+2 seater SUV gets LED DRL and tail lights. The front fascia is available in on-road and off-road guise. The latter can be availed optionally via the “off-road package”, which includes bumper and underbody protection and improves the vehicle’s approach angle by 7 degrees. The SUV is 4,701 mm long, 1,839 mm wide without mirrors, and 1,674 mm high. The vehicle offers 215 mm additional exterior length than the Tiguan. At 2,787 mm, the wheelbase is 109 mm longer as well.
On the inside, the SUV features Composition Colour Media System together with the Connectivity Package (phone and USB interfaces), a multifunction steering wheel, and a variable cargo floor as standard. The top-of-the range Discover Pro system with its 9.2-inch display offers gesture control for the first time in the segment. The cargo space stands at 700 litres with the third-row seats folded down.
On the powertrain front, there are six engine options with front wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The three turbocharged TSI petrol engines develop 110 kW / 150 PS; 132 kW / 180 PS and 162 kW / 220 PS. The three turbocharged TDI diesel engines are available with output levels of 110 kW / 150 PS; 140 kW / 190 PS and 176 kW / 240 PS. The entry-level petrol and diesel variants get a front-wheel drive, while the diesel model has an optional 4MOTION all-wheel drive. The rest of the petrol and diesel variants get all-wheel drive as standard. Same applies to the DSG gearbox.
Coming to the safety department, highlights include Adaptive Cruise Control; Emergency Assist; Traffic Jam Assist; Driver Alert System and proactive occupant protection system. The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is available in three equipment lines- Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. The price of the SUV starts at 30,000 Euros in Germany and is launching in Europe this month.
VW is also displaying the Allspace R-Line variant that comes with visual differences in the exterior and interior.
