A recent report by NDTV suggests that the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace will launch in the Indian market this year.
The second generation VW Tiguan was unveiled internationally in 2016. Since its inception, it has been available in both short wheelbase and long wheelbase (LWB) models. In markets where the SUV is available in both short and long wheelbase formats, the latter has been tagged as VW Tiguan Allspace. It's not known if the Tiguan Allspace would replace the standard model in India or would be sold alongside it.
The standard variant of the VW Tiguan is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which puts out 141 bhp of maximum power and 340 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission. The Allspace should be available with the same powertrain. Comparing dimensions, VW Tiguan Allspace is 215mm longer than the standard variant. Also, its wheelbase is 110 mm longer than that of the regular version. This enables the accommodation of third row seats.
On the inside, the VW Tiguan Allspace features Composition Colour Media System with Connectivity Package, a multifunction steering wheel, and a variable cargo floor as standard. The top-of-the-range Discover Pro system with its 9.2-inch display offers gesture control.
