AutoBild has rendered the rear-end of the VW T-Cross (the SUV equivalent of the VW Polo), based on the T-Cross Breeze concept. It will be VW's least expensive SUV offering when launched in late 2018. Prices are estimated to start from EUR 18,000.
The T-Cross will be based on the all new Polo Mk6’s less expensive MQB A0 platform. It will share components and engine lineup with the SEAT Arona and Skoda Polar (name unconfirmed). Expect dimensions to be similar the open-top T-Cross Breeze concept, which measured 4,133 mm in length, 1,798 mm in width and 1,563 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,565 mm.
Though it's widely regarded as the Polo SUV, the T-Cross will have a unique identity. Judging by the render, the design is angular and rugged, rather than being a Polo on stilts. However, expect the interior to draw cues from the new Polo. It will be a strict 5-seater with 60:40 rear split seats to liberate more cargo volume.

The engine lineup is likely to be sourced from the new VW Polo which includes a range of TSI and TDI engines with displacements ranging from 1.0L - 1.6L. Also on the cards is a range-topping version with a 200 PS 2.0L TSI 4-cyl motor and 7DSG transmission. The T-Cross will be the first MQB A0-based product to offer an AWD system as an option, it is reported.
