In March this year, the VW Vento Sport was launched in India. Volkswagen has added more special edition models this month in the form of the VW Polo Sport and VW Ameo Sport. Changes to both cars are purely cosmetic.
Compared to the VW Polo, the VW Polo Sport has a more stylish exterior, but the differences are not as extensive as they are between the VW Vento and VW Vento Sport. It features black exterior mirror caps, black side foils with ‘Sport’ branding, black roof foil and black rear spoiler. The treatment is similar to the Polo GT Sport edition.
The regular VW Polo is available with a newly introduced 1.0-litre MPI three-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5-litre TDI four-cylinder diesel engine, in Trendline, Comfortline, Highline and Highline Plus grades. Volkswagen hasn’t revealed the engine options and the equipment lines for the VW Polo Sport.
The VW Ameo doesn't really look much different from the regular model. It doesn't feature a black roof foil and black side foils. All it gets are black ORVM caps. Volkswagen hasn’t disclosed the engine options and the equipment lines for this model either. The lack of fog lamps suggest that the Sport is not based on the range-topping Highline or Highline Plus trims. The standard VW Ameo is also available with the aforementioned 1.0-litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine. Trendline, Comfortline, Comfortline Plus, Highline and Highline Plus are the equipment lines.
