The VW Polo GTI has been unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016. It will be Volkswagen's first global performance model, and will be launched later this year.
The car is 3,983 mm long, 1,901 mm wide and 1,443 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,468 mm.
Exterior features include separate LED daytime running lights with automatic range adjustment, headlight washers, static cornering function for front fog lights, GTI specific bumpers, honeycomb front air intake, red GTI louvre below the radiator grille, ‘PARABOLICA’ 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/40 R17 tyres, twin exhaust tailpipe, LED rear number plate lights and tinted tail light assemblies.
The VW Polo GTI for India will be powered by a 192 PS (141 kW/189 hp) 1.8-litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. It produces 250 Nm of torque in the European spec and can reach 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 146 mph (236 km/h). As standard features, the GTI will get ABS, ESP & Hill-hold functions and airbags.
Inside, the GTI variant sports leather trimmed three-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel with red stitching and the ‘GTI’ logo, sporty aluminium-look pedals, height-adjustable front sports seats in ‘Jacara’ upholstery, ‘GTI’ style decorative inserts on the dashboard and centre console, carpet mats with red stitching, stainless steel door sill protectors with 'GTI' logo and ‘Black’ gloss interior trim details and black rooflining.
