Capable of doing 236 km/h.
Volkswagen is showcasing the VW Polo GTI at the ongoing 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA). The updated go-faster version of the hatchback made its debut at the Paris Motor Show last year, and is currently under consideration for the Indian market. Test units of the Polo GTI have been spotted in India, and reports state that a launch is expected this financial year.
The highlight of the VW Polo GTI is its 1.8-liter TSI engine delivering 192 PS and 320 Nm of torque to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG transmission. For reference, the 1.8-liter TSI on the Skoda Octavia makes 180 PS and 250 Nm of torque.
It’s no surprise then that the Polo GTI needs only 6.7 seconds to hit 100 km/h, with a top-speed rated at 236 km/h. In Europe, VW also offers an optional Sport Select suspension system that allows the driver to adjust the dampers.
On the outside, the VW Polo GTI gets a honeycomb-mesh grille with red insignia, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, dual exhausts and the GTI badging.
Aluminium pedals, seat fabric inspired by the Golf GTI, sports seats and a sport steering wheel are the features exclusive to the Polo GTI on the inside.
