Could make slightly more power than the current version.
Speaking to Overdrive at the launch of the 2016 Skoda Superb, a top Volkswagen India executive has divulged that VW will update the 1.5-liter TDI engine, which will make its way into its range of products, including the VW Ameo.
The report suggests that power and torque could increase by 2 PS and about 10 Nm, respectively. Fuel efficiency could also be improved by 7 percent and the engine will continue complying with BS4 standards. Introduced in 2014, the 1.5-liter TDI replaced the bigger 1.6-liter TDI engine for better fuel efficiency. It produces 105 PS in the Polo GT and Vento, and 90 PS in the regular Polo.
When launched in early H2 2016, the VW Ameo will be fitted with the updated 1.5-liter TDI engine, which is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox or 7-speed DSG gearbox. Power figures and mileage will be revealed closer to its market launch. The other engine option available is a 1.2-liter three cylinder MPI with a 5-speed manual only.
