Toyota Kirloskar Motor unveiled the India-spec Yaris at the 2018 Auto Expo last month. According to a report by Overdrive, the Toyota Yaris will be launched on April 24, 2018. Bookings for the sedan are already underway at Toyota dealerships across the country.
Positioned between the Etios and the Corolla Altis, the Toyota Yaris will take on the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, VW Vento, and Skoda Rapid. Expect prices to start at around INR 9 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the entry-level petrol variant. Top-end trims are likely to be expensive with a price tag in the vicinity of INR 13 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The company claims that the Yaris comes with 12 segment-first features. These include electrically adjustable driver’s seat, roof-mounted aircon vents for rear seat occupants, gesture control for the infotainment system, 7 airbags, front parking sensors, all wheel disc brakes and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Initially, the Toyota Yaris will be offered with a petrol engine option with an optional automatic transmission. Powering the car will be a 1.5 L Dual VVT-i petrol engine developing around 105 bhp and 140 Nm. A report from February claims that Toyota will not offer the Yaris with a diesel powerplant.
