Toyota plans to aggressively attack the year 2012 by facelifting its best selling models Innova and Fortuner. The Altis has recently received a facelift and is keeping a steady pace. Toyota is also testing the new global Camry in India as the company plans to re-invent itself in the D sedan market.
The redesigned Innova will feature minor changes to the external design. A LCD screen on the dashboard is the most important addition to the interior.
The Innova is one of the few cars which is as favored in the taxi market as it is in the personal vehicle segment. The XUV500, with its clever gizmos and gadgetry, makes the Innova look a bit humdrum.
Pretty soon Force Motors will also launch their own MPV based on the Daimler platform which should turn a few heads. The Nissan NV200 caught testing in Chennai is another threat to the Innova's future. General Motors is working on SAIC vans by giving them diesel engines to fight the Innova.
Innova is the target of multiple assassins. Thus Toyota India should make sure that this facelift gives it enough armory to stand the attacks.
