First gen Toyota Innova has been discontinued.
In an interview with CNBC TV18, Mr. Vikram S. Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has confirmed that the Toyota Innova Crysta will arrive in showrooms from May 2016. It will launch with a diesel engine, while a petrol option is also being considered for a later time.
The diesel engine in question could be the 2.4-liter GD engine producing 149 PS and 342 Nm of torque with a 5-speed manual transmission or 360 Nm of torque with a 6-speed automatic transmission. A bigger 2.8-liter GD diesel variant with 177 PS could also be introduced as it was spotted for the first time in the Innova Crysta at the Auto Expo.
The second generation Toyota Innova measures 4,735 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and 1,795 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. Compared to the first gen model, it has grown by 150 mm in length, 70 mm in width and 35 mm in height, although the wheelbase is identical.
When launched, it will be one of the most feature-packed MPVs in the market and establishes a premium MPV segment that currently has no products (price-wise).
